Sigillina Fortress
Filattiera (MS)
Commissioned by the City of Filattiera (MS). - In medieval times a fortress called Rocca di Valsazulina was built on a spur of the Apennines. The peculiarity of this construction lies in the fact that the builders “isolated” a spur by digging a deep cut in its back and covered the rock surface with a masonry. The Fortress, abandoned in the eighteenth century, seems now disappeared but with a patient work of restoration they have been trying for years to bring out the original masonry wall to reinforce the wall structure survived. Particular problems also exist for those points where the rock is flaking. In those points they proceeded with the installation of a wire mesh.
