The Gorizia Castle

(GO)

Commissioned by the City of Gorizia (GO) - It is an intervention partly of consolidation and partly of restoration. Much of the masonry below the ramparts of the castle, facing Slovenia, (about 1800mq invaded by climbing plants) has been reclaimed and restored. First of all, there has been a floristic survey for the identification of the treatments to be performed. The wall, likely a Venetian opera, consists of a masonry of large blocks of stone supported by its own weight. Some small interventions of consolidation of the damaged masonry were carried out. Some interventions of static consolidation were performed on the wall that holds up the entrance ramp and on the basis of a cylindrical tower of the curtain facing the city.
